Been gone too long.

Hi everyone!

I just want to start by sending a huge thank you out to everyone who has been checking out my work, commenting, adding as favorites and watching. I've been away for too long since I got my new job, but I am going to make an effort to put myself on a figure making schedule and finish the 2 dozen or so projects on my desk, LOL! I also want to take the opportunity to apologize for not replying to posts promptly, but again, I haven't been around the community for the last few months.
That said, I again want to say "thank you!" for all of the support, critiques and kind words and look forward to having more work up here in the next 2 weeks.

Cheers!

I like action figures, video games, and soccer. Well...I guess that's the succinct version, but that pretty much sums up my day to day. I make toys, I play videogames, and I watch or play soccer. Everyday is like Saturday for me; now that's the life!

hey dude, was just wondering.. where do you get all the figures..?
wouldn't this be a really expensive hobby if you were multiple figures then chopping em up to make one?

don't get me wrong, your customs are boss, just wanted to know what happens to the parts you dont use...
:iconrenmauzo:
Good question. When I did my first figure (Strider), I started off with a base figure that I thought was close, then I bought any other figures that I saw would be useful for some of the parts they had. The trick is to never buy a figure unless you can see yourself using at least 75% of the figure. If you can only make use of one piece, even if it has a "perfect part" for a project, it's not worth getting. I now have drawers full of parts, which is great, because you never know when you are going to need something, like the parts from that other 25% you thought would never come in handy. The other sign of a true customizer is when you can work with a part no matter what it is. Case in point, when I made Lord Raptor, I never thought I would have used an Adon head (which are largely useless because of the facial distinctiveness of the character), but I hollowed it out, recognizing that his bone structure was perfect to make a skull head, and voie la...I think he turned out pretty good.
But all in all, I've got 2 utility cabinets full of parts, but eventually they will all go to good use. I'm almost at 50 customs so far and plan to be at 100 by year's end.

When I get back from vacation, Mayor Mike Haggar, AVGN, Dimitri Maximoff, Bishamon, Anakaris, Gill, Makoto, and Donovan should be ready to go and up on the board. They've got a pretty interesting mix of parts to them, including some pieces that I thought, a long time ago, I would never use.

It all starts expensive, but levels out once you get into it seriously.

Cheers!
